USM Probate
Yesterday I went to my first probate in a long time, I dont remember going to one since 04'. Because it was so long, I don't remember what it was like so I decided to go to the Phi Beta Sigma probate on 4/26/09. For me it wasn't really a big deal but some people were all dressed up and things. I went with the same clothes I had on all day and I really didnt know how man y people would be there nor what to expect. For the most part, I had a good time it was pretty entertaining. After about 30 or 45 minutes, I was ready to go and I did. While I drove away though, I thought about how it must be or how it would be to be in those shoes, to be those guys on that stage stomping and yelling. It must be nice to have all these people from everywhere coming to see you do your thing, watching you cross into a new level of life and hopefully success. As I thought of these things, I wondered what fraternity would I be a part of where would I go, or do in a fraternity, what do they do. Needless to say even though this is my last year at Southern Miss, I am definitely considering doing what so many people in my family and all over the world have done, we'll see!!

Mardi Gras 09'
It was my first Mardi Gras and it was raining the night I wanted to go down and get with my cousins and friends who were already there. Needless to say I didnt make it that night. But the next morning, early Sunday I believe, me and my girlfriend packed our stuff and headed that way. Not for my own good or was it my will, she went with me. That sounds bad but the way that my woman is I knew I was going to get to see very little of my people and do more shopping and walking around malls than I needed to. Im the type that gives her what she wants, sometimes at my own expense but not most of the time. Got a good rooom, saw a few parades, lot of beads and a lot of shopping. Through it all it was well worth it and a lot of fun, when her and I get together, its always a good time, when we're not fighting. When I got ready to leave I thought to myself I dont really know what Mardi Gras would be like without someone to share it with, its a lot going on but not a lot of parties that I knew of. Bourbon St. was so packed I didnt wanna be on it and I wouldnt have wanted to be by myself at the parades so I was glad that she was there, I mean I party and see my people all the time so it wasnt really a big deal. Whisper. . . .on top of that my boys didnt have too much of a good time cuz they stayed with my cousin and they had to leave whenever she left and that my friend is not cool because I like to be on my own terms and my own time in New Orleans. Ultimately my first Mardi Gras was worth it. Lol!!!

Iraq in 07'
My second tour UGH!!!! Mad at the world and mad at the Corp. I sucked up my pride, my fears and all my feelings, packed my gear, packed my bags and charged on. Being that it was my second time I sorta knew what to expect, knew where we were going in the country so I knew what to expect from the area for the most part. That really eliminated some of the fear. One of the biggest things was getting used to the new people and authority figures that were now in charge. Nonetheless, we met them got used to them and their ways, and they did the same for us. Took a while to get used to some things that changed, like the level of professionalism, and the way they authoritized I guess you can say, but for the most part it was a smooth transition for me and for my unit. Thank God for that. Get there and sleep in tents for about 3 weeks before we got into our cans which were great. Well as great as Iraq can get we had tvs, cable, internet, and video games. People may think that that is crazy but its more than needed after week long missions, fire fights, and interacting a lot with the Iraqi population. Seven months on a truck with the greatest men that ever walked the face of this earth, hard times, both good and bad but we all came home safe at the end of it and that my friend is more than we can ask for.
